Obama skips biofuels in State of the Union, touts clean

Filed under: ethanol as alternative fuel

“Domestic ethanol is the only renewable alternative fuel that is meaningfully reducing imported oil demand, creating homegrown jobs and helping improve the environment,” said Matt Hartwig, chief of staff for the Renewable Fuels Association.

Waste district board members, director doubt trash-to-ethanol financing plan

Gard also has criticized the district for contracting to build a controversial trash-to-ethanol plant, which would consolidate county trash collections and attempt to transform carbon-based garbage into the fuel alternative ethanol.

Alternative energy sources: Ethanol, alternate fuel source

Full show at: www.connectedlifetv.com RSS feeds.feedburner.com Though the verdict is still out on Ethanol as an alternate fuel source, it has some startling implications for us all. Corn used for ethanol is expected to increase from 700 Million Bushels to 3.2 Billion. With this increase the price of corn is going up, affecting the cost of poultry, meat and corn based products. Advocates argue that a Company such as Monsanto will build a supercrop, drastically increasing the amount of corn grown on any plot of land. As we work at finding alternative energy sources, we need to be careful about the possible consequences.

Fact:? if you replace EVERY inch of farmland in the united states and use it to make ethanol, you only reduce our demand for oil by 12%!….ethanol is NOT a solution.

I invented a breakthrough energy source that contradicts the law of? energy conservation. I have a PROOF that there are electrodynamic phenomena that contradict the law of energy conservation. I am looking for $300 000 for a prototype and for $3M for patents. Making a 6 kW generator will cost $1200 in mass production, value of energy produced yearly $5400.

Fortunately, the same corn used to make ethanol is then used as animal feed after? being processed and ethanol is extracted from it.

  • kornigator:

correction,? 1 gal of fossil fuel to make 1.3 gal of ethanol.

  • kornigator:

Switchgrass looks like the best alternative to corn, but Monsanto can’t get paid subsidies for Switchgrass. Also, it takes? roughly 1 gal of fossil fuel to make 1 gal of ethanol, is that green?

Too manufacture wind and solar systems requires energy, note solar cells that use silicon? have an initial outlay of pollution exchange, but hopefully its useful life will offset the pollution

  • ChemicalMikeUK:

why bother RECREATING the same old problem? isnt it the point of fixing something, to actually fix it? i want a? car that DOESN’T pollute. like the air-car for example. it runs off of compressed air, and doesnt pollute. and the electricity running the compressor for filling up the tank could come from solar or wind power.so you see it is possible to be completely pollution free and still be practical.

stop? posting comments. that make you sound smart. werll u guys arent u suck

  • emforty2:

Yes ethanol is an alternatize energy is good for clean air but bad for the land and groundwater/rivers/oceans

growing a lot of corn just to produce ethanol to fuel to drive our cars will induce pollution in our lands and waters u need chemicals/fertilizers[petroleum based]? to grow them right?…so u got clean air but dirty water and polluted land
    take your pick!

  • cheaphardwarez:

Grow up and get an education! Its co2 neutral . It is clean. There are co-ops building their own plants. PLUS, 100% of our fuel could be? produced from cat-tails grown in your stinking crap without using a kernel of corn. We could have built plants for every country on earth to get off oil for what we have spent in Iraq. As always this is political spin and not truth from popular media to people that will not educate them selves and get their own answers.

  • WORLDREIGN:

There may actually be a method to derive ethanol from the cellulouse(SP?) or planty matter from corn stalks. This method, if perfected, could completely end the? “high price corn” debate.

  • Juands10:

Don’t genetically alter crops because thAT would go against everything us treehuggers belive? in.
